-The recorded tuning of Lament is in drop C, but is played i D live.
- Lament was written in response to the growing success of "Porcelain," which bore many similarities to the song it drew inspiration from, Make Do And Mend's "Drown In It." Shaun sought to prove he could write what he describes to be "The same song, with less external influence."
- Lament was meant to be the theme for a Canada-based ghost-hunting reality show, directed by Vincent Porter. It was written for the combined purposes of the show, and the above entry.
- Eric Savage contributed greatly to this track, rewriting almost singlehandedly the entire bridge section. Whereas the original demo featured a repetitive melody, Savage rewrote it to feature a "guitar duel", between himself and the much less guitar-skilled Shaun Roland. He wins every time.
lyrics
Don't leave me alone here by myself
I've not the strength to forge ahead,
Don't tell me goodbye, not just yet
I'm begging you, not just yet
Don't give me this false self-confidence
Not if it isn't mine to have
Don't leave any words here left unsaid,
I'm begging you, not just yet
I am an echo on the wind
The shadow of a sin
The crater where a man once might have stood
I am a memory on the air,
The footnote in a prayer,
I tried to be, but I just never could
I know that I said don't comfort me
But now you're walking out the door
Don't leave me alone
The silence is screaming in my ears
I've not the strength to face my fate
My world is comprised of hate and fear,
Please don't leave me here
You said you'd be here until the end
That I'd have something to defend
But now I must face the dark alone
Please, don't leave me alone
I am an echo on the wind
The shadow of a sin
The crater where a man once might have stood
I am a memory on the air,
The footnote in a prayer,
I tried to be, but I just never could
I know that I said don't comfort me,
But now you're walking out the door
Don't leave me alone
There's music in the air,
There's music in the air,
There's music in the air,
There's music in the air,
There's music in the air,
There's music in the air,
There's music in the air
There's music in the air,
But I can't hear it
I know that I said don't comfort me
But now you're walking out the door
You're walking out the door
Please...don't leave me alone
